Plays Sandwiched In

Learn more about BVT's upcoming summer plays at Plays Sandwiched In, a program at and in collaboration with Wood Library in Canandaigua.

Bristol Valley Theater will collaborate with the Wood Library of Canandaigua to present two programs of “Plays Sandwiched In” April 10 and 17 from 11 a.m - 12 p.m. at Wood Library, 134 North Main Street in Canandaigua.

The program, first developed last spring and modeled after the library’s successful “Books Sandwiched In” will introduce those attending to two of the plays to be offered at Bristol Valley Theater this summer. Karin Bowersock, the Theater’s Artistic Director, will read excerpts from each featured play and give additional information about the playwright and the play’s history.

On April 10, the romantic drama Mary's Wedding (by Canadian playwright Stephen Massicotte) will be featured. This poignant award-winning play, set at the onset of the first World War, tells the story of Mary and Charley, who duck into a barn to escape a sudden rain storm, and find each other. But the young lovers must surrender their fate to the uncertainties of tumultuous times. Mary's Wedding, which will play June 28 – July 8 at the Naples' theater, is a haunting love story and a riveting tale of war and the sacrifice made by soldiers and their families.

On April 17, Agatha Christie's Go Back For Murder will be on the Sandiwched In program. This rarely produced gem by the mistress of stage suspense spins the tale of lovely Carla Le Marchant, who, on her 21st birthday, receives a letter from her departed mother confessing a horrible family secret: Mother died, not in a car crash, but in prison, serving a life sentence for murder! The letter protests her innocence, so Carla sets about to uncover the truth and clear her mother's name. Secrets abound and mystery lovers can count on the usual cadre of suspects, twists and turns that distinguishes Dame Agatha's work. Go Back for Murder will play at BVT July 12 – 22.

“Plays Sandwiched In” audience members will receive a discount coupon for tickets to Bristol Valley Theater’s plays.
