AUDITIONS will be held at the theater, 151 South Main Street, Naples, on May 17 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. You may do a short memorized piece or read from a script that we willt provide. Please bring the completed apprentice application with you to the audition.
Criteria for enrollment in the program:
· A genuine interest in theater
· Audition for the Artistic Director
· Willingness on the part of apprentices and parents/guardians to commit to a rigorous schedule
· Age requirement: 11-17 years old
Description of the program:
Tuition: $250*
Apprentices, under the direction of the Apprentice Director will work on theater games and exercises, improvisation, movement, acting, set construction and costumes and a variety of other activities. Special workshops led by the professionals working on the BVT main stage, will be offered throughout the summer on a variety of topics such as playwrighting, stage dialects, etc. Apprentices will make two public presentations during the course of the summer: a one-time exhibition of class work and a fully-mounted play which will run for two weeks on the BVT stage and tour for one week to area children’s facilities and libraries. Apprentices will also have the opportunity to attend matinee performances of the main stage productions and have talk back sessions with the actors.

General information:
Bristol Valley Theater’s Apprentice Program is designed to give individuals interested in theater an overview of the entire process of producing a play from as many different perspectives as possible. This format is provided to reinforce the concept of theater as a collaborative art form.
The entire program will be under the direction of Bristol Valley Theater’s Artistic Director, Karin Bowersock and an Apprentice Program Director to be announced. Enrollment in the Apprentice Program is limited so that each candidate can receive individual attention and fulfill his or her own personal goals.
Attendance is required on all class dates, rehearsals and performances, except in the case of serious illness or personal emergencies. All conflicts must be cleared through the program coordinator prior to the start of the Apprentice Program.

Tuition payment:
Tuition is due in May after apprentices are accepted into the program. Scholarship requests (based on financial need) will be handled on a case-by-case basis by Artistic Director, Karin Bowersock. A written request for scholarship funds is required.
The Children’s Show:
Owen and the Elf Princess, inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, commissioned especially for BVT’s Apprentice Program from award-winning playwright, Dominic Orlando (author of The Truth About Dragons, Bootz! and The Mostly True Adventures of Snow White).
